From the Mayor's Desk - August 2017

August will be an especially busy month on the streets of North Bonneville as the BNSF Railway’s siding expansion project continues just north of Highway 14.

A big part of this undertaking will be the construction work that will take place around the underpass of Hot Springs Way to accommodate the installation of a second set of train tracks paralleling the existing line.

There will be intermittent closures of the underpass on Hot Springs Way from August 5th through September 2nd as part of this construction. These closures are only scheduled to occur between 6:00am and 5:30pm and whenever possible, one lane will be left open, although there may be a need to close both lanes at some times. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic and we ask that you follow their directions and stay safe.

There will also be a 2-day closure of Evergreen Drive at the green bridge over Hamilton Creek in late August. We don’t have a definite date but road closed barricades will be set up when it occurs.

With the exception of this 2-day closure, access to Highway 14 will always be available at the west end of Evergreen Drive. During the 2-day closure access will be available via Hot Springs Way and Cascade Drive.

In other news, the citywide burn ban remains in effect for all burn barrels, debris piles and other outdoor burning. There is an exception for fire pits but we ask that even when using a stone or metal fire pit that you be extra careful to keep the fire under control and that all fires are properly and completely extinguished before you leave the area unattended.

As always, we welcome your input and ideas regarding our city. City Hall is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Our phone number is 427-8182 and and you can contact me by don [at] northbonneville.net (subject: A%20message%20from%20North%20Bonneville%20website) (email.)
