From the Mayor's Desk - June 2017

Summer is coming and the days are getting nicer and longer so we can all enjoy the improving weather.

Another change coming our way is a temporary disuse of the stop signs at the intersection of East Cascade and Shady Oak Lane. In the short term, we will be covering the stop signs on East Cascade during a construction project that includes large trucks hauling materials through that intersection. Allowing traffic to pass through that intersection without stopping will result in less noise caused when the trucks come to a stop and then get going again. In the longer term, it’s a good time to revisit the need for those stop signs now that the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort has closed. The traffic to and from the resort, both visitors and employees, has dropped off substantially since the closure and I’ve heard from some residents in that area that the stop signs haven’t worked as well as we had hoped.

If you have something to add to this discussion, we will be talking about it at the next City Council meeting on June 13th at 7:00pm. This will be your best chance to have your thoughts and observations included in the discussion, but if you can’t make it to the meeting you are welcome to email me at the address below or call us at City Hall to share your ideas and concerns.

Everything will be on the table for discussion, including speed bumps, so please come help us decide on the best path forward.

As always, we welcome your input and ideas regarding our city. City Hall is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Please contact me here at City Hall at 427-8182 or by don [at] northbonneville.net (subject: A%20message%20from%20North%20Bonneville%20website) (email.)
